The English Area delivered a fantastic showcase of talents and love for language and literature during yesterday's opening of the English Days 2025. A festival of fluent verses and statements are expected to fill the CIC-Cebu Community.
The English Days 2025, an avenue for the English Language to be appreciated, most importantly, a fresh avenue for Inmaculadistas to showcase their flair in various fields. To officially welcome the festivities, presenters from the Grade 6 performed a poem entitled “Why English is Fun” and winners from last year’s Slam Poetry Contest presented their piece on corruption. After the spirited performances, all the fun festivities for all grade levels were announced by the English Area Coordinator, Mrs. Ina Lao. This made the Inmaculadistas look forward to spending the month of March basking in the fulfillment and knowledge brought by the English literature.
Right after the opening, students from Grades 1-3 gathered at the St. Vincent de Paul Hall for the Storytelling Contest. The contestants flaunted their blazing potential in narrating stories we all love. The audience had an exhilarating reaction for all the storytellers’ amazing performances.
In the words of Derek Walcott, “The English language is nobody's special property. It is the property of the imagination: it is the property of the language itself”. May we take this time to immerse ourselves in the fascination of the world of words through literature, for every great story begins with the turn of a single page.
